Thoughts About Things: What’s Your Bright Spot?

So cats out the bag people: Tha Jist, not only enjoys but, is very seasoned in the art of people watching. I’ve always been a very analytical person. Just looking into the things around me and piecing together an understanding of the world. In my many years of people watching I’ve come to find there are a lot of people in the world that let their obligations take over their world and leave no time or legitimately have no time for that one thing that actually genuinely makes them happy. Last week I read a quote that said ” Live while you’re young, you may never be old”, which hit me hard. It’s true, I’ve seen it, much closer than I wish I did. For that reason I clock in as much time as I can with Dark Blue in the studio. Of the outrageously busy days and nights awake I have, that is my bright spot. Find your bright spot and even if it’s just moments a week take a little time to revel in whatever that may be. The world is already kicking everybody’s ass, step away from it and escape into your own every once in a while.

International Song Competition

So I woke up this morning, worked on the mailing list a little more, went for a run. While I was running I got an email on my phone but ignored it till I returned home. What did I find upon entering my house panting like a bastard? Side note: Dark Blue’s real name is Gabriel, makes this story make sense once you see the picture. We are the 1% out of 20,000 songs selected in the category of R&B/Hip-Hop in the International Songwriting Competition. Strangely enough it is for a song that we wrote about 2 years ago, Huh 2.0 from the EP “No Idea”, which is a rewrite of a song “Huh?” we wrote about 4 years ago lol. There’s a fan voted section which I’ll hit you with starting March 31st but for now we’re happy as eff :D . Let us know what you think of “Vibe” as your receive it. Love ya’ll,

Thoughts About Things Pt.1: I’m a little sensative

So I compiled what I have been able of the mailing list today and sent out the first exclusive track. As I was doing so I felt the same kind of nervousness I’ve felt for as long as I can remember when releasing songs. When I hear other artists say “I don’t care what people think”, it confuses me. I’m extremely sensitive about what people think, that’s what makes me able to deliver what the people want. I have to be sensitive because, to me, the opposite is, out of touch. As the amazing Erykah Badu says at the beginning of her record Tyrone, “Keep in mind that I’m a artist, And I’m sensitive about my shit!” I feel that’s what makes great artists. Most artists are some of the most sensitive and self conscious people you will ever meet, myself included. It’s what keeps me creating for the people in my own special, unique way. But for anyone that isn’t on the mail list, please sign up on the main page by clicking the “Get Exclusives” button. I’m still working on it’s completion but didn’t want to keep the wonderful peoples that already have waiting on the exclusive track. More to come, love you all!!

Guess Who’s BACK?!?!

So, long time everyone. I just yesterday finally got my lap top back after 8 long months without one. In that time quiet a bit has transpired. We opened and owned a studio in downtown Boston for about 6 months, The Rec Room, which was a scary but a learning experience. We have since transferred The Rec Room to a much bigger, better facility. Through a series of amazing events we now find ourselves in a much larger studio with all the professional grade toys we’ve wanted for years to bring you the album we’ve always wanted. People always asked us why we referred to Scrap Paper and No Idea as EPs. That’s because we knew what we wanted the album to be but were never able to achieve that until now. Finally the stars have aligned and we are now in a beautiful new space, with all the things we need to make the best possible debut album. We’re both creatively in the best place we’ve ever been, and are already hard at work on it. We also have two side projects ready to go which we’re putting the finishing touches on. A couple of tracks produced by Dark Blue will accompany both of those. So rest assured we will be keeping you posted as we continue working, hitting you with new songs, pictures thoughts, anything creative. Stay tuned, it’s gonna be a good year! #GetDistinguished
